January 4, 2012: Eclectic Institute Recalls Dietary Supplements That May Contain Salmonella

On December 20, 2011, Eclectic Institute, Sandy, Oregon, announced the recall of Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica) and Bladderwrack (Fucus vesiculosus) freeze-dried capsules because the products may be contaminated with the foodborne pathogen Salmonella.
 
The recalled, freeze-dried capsules were sold to retailers, individuals, and to health practitioners all over the United States.  The Gotu Kola recalled product was sold from September 14, 2011, to December 14, 2011, while the Bladderwrack recalled product was sold from July 14, 2011, to December 14, 2011.  The capsules were packaged in both glass and plastic containers.  The link for lot numbers, item numbers, and UPC codes of the recalled capsules is below.
