Ocean Mist Farms of Castroville, CA and Steinbeck Country Produce of Salinas, CA have both announced voluntary recalls due to the possibility of their iceless green onions being contaminated with Salmonella. This comes after USDA inspectors conducted routine tests on samples of the onions.
The iceless green onions were originally sent to the two companies by Circle Produce of Calexico, CA. The produce was supplied to Circle Produce by an onion farm in Mexicali, Mexico.

The recall is limited to 3,360 cartons of:
4 count/2 pound bags
2 count/24 bunch bags
4 count/ 12 bunch bags
The produce was distributed in California, Massachusetts, Texas, Indiana, New York, Michigan, Missouri, Kansas and Arizona and shipped between August 4 and August 22, 2009.
