Catawba County Salmonella Outbreak News – Catawba County Health officials report a total of 176 individuals with symptoms of Salmonella food poisoning in connection with a Newton, North Carolina, restaurant foodborne illness outbreak.
Twenty-five of the reported Salmonella illnesses are laboratory confirmed. Most of the food poisoning victims had eaten at Carniceria y Taqueria Hermanos Chavez off U.S. 321 Business in Newton, according to Maria Reese, a spokeswoman for Catawba County Public Health.
Although the restaurant was closed on November 2, WBTV.com has reported that the restaurant is once again serving food.
