December 31, 2009: Update to Iberia Restaurant Outbreak

The NJ health department and city inspectors are continuing doing their best to determine if Salmonella may be the cause of food poisoning.  The Iberia Restaurant, located in Newark, New Jersey, is suspected of serving contaminated food on December 24, 26 and 27.  So far victims have come from baptism and Christmas parties held at the restaurant.

Manuel Guerra, a manager at Leslie Furniture, also located in Newark, stated that two workers are in the hospital and nine of the workers are on antibiotics.

Although the restaurant has been in compliance with health codes, city inspectors have been to the restaurant enforcing good food safety practices.  The establishment has remained open despite the outbreak.

Located in New Brunswick, New Jersey, the Law Firm of Eric H. Weinberg represents victims of food poisoning outbreaks nationwide, including Peanut Butter Corporation of America, Banquet Pot Pie, Veggie Booty, Arby’s Restaurant, and Peter Pan outbreaks.
