August 22, 2020: FDA Updates Public on Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Peaches

Peach Salmonella Outbreak Update News – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, along with the CDC, state, and local partners, is investigating a multi-state outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis infections linked to peach products.

To date, Prima Wawona and ALDI have issued recalls for peach products linked to the ongoing outbreak.

Peach Salmonella Outbreak Update Information

On August 22, 2020, FDA and CDC announced they provided epidemiological evidence to Prima Wawona regarding the Salmonella outbreak. Subsequently, Prima Wawona issued a recall for its peaches distributed from June 1, 2020 through August 19, 2020 in multiple states, as well as bulk and loose peaches distributed nationwide from June 1, 2020 through August 3, 2020.

The FDA’s traceback investigative team is working to identify the source of the ongoing Salmonella Enteritidis outbreak. FDA officials will continue to update the public with any new information as it becomes available.

About Salmonella and Salmonella Food Poisoning

Do not consume peaches affected by the ALDI peach recall. The affected peaches should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. Wash your hands thoroughly after handling the recalled peaches and remember to clean surfaces that came into contact with the recalled peaches.
