January 4, 2012: Green Valley Food Sprout Recall

Green Valley Food Sprout Recall Announcement – On December 22, 2011, Green Valley Food Corporation recalled 6,723 cases of alfalfa sprouts, because the products may be contaminated with the foodborne pathogen Salmonella.

Green Valley Food Sprout Recall Information

The recalled products are:

  • “Let’s Grow Healthy Together!” Alfalfa Sprouts 5 oz. container with the UPC number 714722228818
  • “Let’s Grow Healthy Together!” Spicy Sprouts 5 oz. container  with the UPC number 71472222991
  • Alfalfa Sprouts 4oz. is a clamshell with the UPC number 815098001088
  • “100% Natural Onion Sprouts” 4oz. clamshell with UPC number 815098002054

 

Any of these items received or purchased from 12/07/2011 to 1/1/2012 are affected in this recall and/or if the items have a use by date ranging from 12/22/2011 to 1/1/2012.

Symptoms of Salmonella food poisoning may include diarrhea (sometimes bloody), abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, fever, chills, headache, muscle pain, and joint pain. Symptoms usually appear within 12-72 hours after the ingestion of contaminated food.
