Hy-Vee Cheesecake Recall Announcement – Hy-Vee, Inc. is recalling its cheesecakes made with Diamond Crystal Brands’ cheesecake mix because they may be contaminated with Salmonella.
About Salmonella
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis, arthritis, and death. Hy-Vee Cheesecake Recall Information
The potential Salmonella contamination was brought to Hy-Vee’s attention via a letter from their supplier. Hy-Vee’s recall includes 32 varieties of cheesecakes, both 8-ounce and 32-ounce packages, with best if used by dates of December 6, 2018, through January 11, 2019. The expiration date can be found on the label.

The mixture was distributed to grocery stores in the States of Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. The Hy-Vee Cheesecake products at issue come in a plastic container, with a plastic lid. Retailers should not sell the recalled cheesecakes and consumers are cautioned to not eat the recalled cheesecakes.
