On January 5, 2012, The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued an update for the ongoing ground beef Salmonella typhimurium outbreak. A total of 19 people have been infected from 7 states including: HI (1), KY (1), MA (1), ME (4), NH (6), NY (5), and VT (1). This outbreak is linked to ground beef sold at sold at Hannaford, a Scarborough, ME, based grocery chain.
Hannaford recalled the ground beef on December 15, 2011. At that tiem there were 14 confirmed cases of Salmonella foodpoisoning. Additional details of this recall can be found at Hannaford Ground Beef Recall.
