On March 18th, Pro-Amino International Inc., of Saint-Eustache, Quebec, Canada issued a recall of their ProtiDiet High Protein Chocolate Dream Bars due to a threat of salmonella contamination. Salmonella is a bacterium that causes the infection salmonellosis. The symptoms of salmonellosis are diarrhea (sometimes bloody), abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, fever, chills, headache, muscle pain, and joint pain.
According to the FDA, in Pro-Amino International’s recall the only product taken off the shelves were containers holding 7 bars, all 7.4 oz, with a UPC code of 6 21498 42238 1, lot code CR 18 13B, and Best Before date of 2015-08. These were sold in 14 states including: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia. Some packages were also sold over online purchases.
