King Arthur Flour Company has issued an organic coconut flour recall after testing revealed the presence of Salmonella in a 16 oz pouch of the product. Approximately 6,300 cases of the company’s Organic Coconut Flour have been recalled.

According the FDA announcement, the recalled Organic Coconut Flour (16 oz.) was distributed through retailers and distributors nationwide.

King Arthur Flour Recall – Best By Date 10/25/18
To date, the following recall information has been provided:
“Organic Coconut Flour (16 oz.) with Best If Used By Dates of 10/25/2018 LOT: CF22017E and 12/04/2018, LOT: CF22017E which can be found on the back of the pouch, near the bottom of the panel.
UPC: 0 71012 10702 5″
Consumers are cautioned that they should not consume the recalled organic coconut flour.

“Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and produce more severe illnesses.”
