Salmonella Macadamia Nut Recall News – On June 21, 2016, Marin Foods Specialties, Inc. recalled its raw macadamia nuts from California, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington Whole Foods Market stores because the products may be contaminated with Salmonella. In a company press release, Marin Foods indicated that routine testing performed by an FDA-contracted laboratory, determined that the recalled raw macadamia nuts products tested positive for the presence of the foodborne pathogen Salmonella.
Salmonella Macadamia Nut Recall Information
The recalled products are labeled “Whole Foods Market Raw Macadamia Nuts” and are packaged in 6 oz. clear plastic tubs. The nuts bear “best by” dates of August 21, 2016 through November 6, 2016, and are marked with UPC Code 99948200132. The nuts were distributed to Whole Foods Market stores in California, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.
